Baked French Toast Recipe
Baking allows you to make this delicious, low fat recipe for baked French Toast in batches and also cuts calories and fat by nearly half! This baked french toast recipe is sure to become a family favorite!

- Nonstick spray coating
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- ¾ cup skim milk
- 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 ½ inch thick slices French Bread
- ¼ tsp finely shredded orange peel
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- cinnamon, extra
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)

- Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick coating. In a pie plate, combine egg, milk, vanilla and 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon (add more or less to taste). Soak bread slices in egg mixture for about 1 minute per side. Place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake french toast in a 450F oven for about 6 minutes or until bread is lightly browned. Turn bread over and bake 5 to 8 minutes more or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, make Orange Syrup. In a small saucepan, stir together orange peel, orange juice, honey, cornstarch and extra cinnamon, to taste. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more.
- If desired, sift powdered sugar over french toast. Serve with warm orange syrup. Makes 4 servings.
